Call of the wild

» Woraphot Bunkhwamdi is a naturalist with a special interest in the sounds of nature and birds. While he was an undergraduate student at the Faculty of Sciences, Silpakorn University, he was walking on Ao Manao beach in Prachuap Khiri Khan at night and heard the tinkling sound of numerous button top shells being washed up on the shore then pulled back into the sea. The sound of the shells left a lasting impression on him. Woraphot returned to Ao Manao several years later, but never heard that sound again since the numbers of button top shells had decreased. This incident was one of several reasons which encouraged him to record the sounds of nature.
Pakk Taii Design Week 2023

» When Covid-19 pandemic broke out, it affected many industries and led to the loss of jobs for numerous people, including those in the creative industries, who were forced to return to their hometowns. To support the young generations of the south and provide platforms for them to showcase their creations, Creative Economy Agency (CEA) collaborated with Songkhla Province, Tourism Authority of Thailand, local designers and creators to hold the first “Pakk Taii Design Week 2023 (PTDW2023)”.

» Pavida Kritasaran has suffered from itchy rashes for 15 years. Due to the rashes, she had to take steroids for years. Her unusual condition triggered an interest in macrobiotic foods and later organic food. Although she was careful with her diet, she still had rashes.

» Last week, an ongoing exhibition "Ni Tas Sa Kee" or "Free Pads For All" was launched at The Pheu Thai Party's headquarters on New Phetchaburi Road. On view until March 31, "Free Pads For All", which distributes free sanitary pads to women, is a pilot project that Pheu Thai wants to push for the government to make policy.

» The founder of Green Lantern Gallery, Watjanasin Charuwattanakitt, has been interested in Thai mural paintings ever since he ordained as a monk at Pariwat Temple and noticed that there were paintings about Buddhism on the walls and doors. Since then, he likes to visit temples to see murals, however, he often encounters difficulty as not all temples are open to the public.

» Pottery, ceramics, tableware and wall-decorative items can brighten the mood of a house or a restaurant, as well as present an owner's distinctive personality. Pottery ceramic designers -- Nopkamon Akarapongpaisan and Nol Netprom from craft studio LamunLamai -- have paid attention to each customer. They started from creating name tags for small ceramic items and cups, so customers could have their own unique pieces or could offer special pieces as gifts for others. The craft studio has gained recognition after serving customers with their custom-made designs. Some of their creative wall-decorative items and ingenious tableware designs can be seen at celebrated eateries, including Michelin-starred 80/20, two-Michelin-starred Sorn and at the American coffee chain Starbucks.
