» Udom "Nose" Taephanich is known as the most famous stand-up comedian in Thailand. On stage, Udom tells stories close to home and engages audiences with a humorous style of talking, which is why tickets for his performances always sell out. Although Udom made people laugh, he did not realise he was stressed until he went to consult a psychiatrist.

» When Rose Bannaros worked with artist Luck Maisalee, she noticed that many of his pieces were inspired by female figures and icons. Impressed by this, Rose aimed to display this particular aspect of Luck's work. However, she was concerned that presenting work from a single artist could lead to a narrow perspective, so to provide diverse perspectives of women, Rose collaborated with three other female artists -- Kaewtrakarn Junlabon, Parichat Suphaphan and Marisa Srijunpleang.
Tracing loss and legacy

» Last year, Marisa Srijunpleang, an artist from Surin, created the art exhibition "T360174" which showed how the Khmer Rouge genocide directly and indirectly affected her family. Recently, Marisa created the photo exhibition "Blooms With The Wind Blows", a continuation of her previous work.

» Growing up in Surin, the border region between Thailand and Cambodia, Marisa Srijunpleang developed a keen interest in the histories of both countries. However, she noticed that some historical stories were missing from written records. After talking to family members, she was surprised to discover they were survivors of the 1975 Khmer Rouge genocide, and how they had been directly and indirectly affected by the war.

» Last week, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and Tourism Authority Thailand announced that 8,745 people from Surin province succeeded in setting a new record of "the highest number of people folding fabric animals simultaneously" in the Guinness World Record. This event was part of the Elephant Festival, an annual event in Surin. Organised by the Surin provincial administration and TAT, the event of folding fabric into elephant dolls aimed to boost tourism since numbers had dropped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Organisers also hoped the event would promote Surin fabric, which is a signature product of the province.

» In order to help people learn about the architecture of historical buildings on Rattanakosin Island, Museum Siam has launched "Cultural District 2021: The Art Festival For The Opening Of Rattanakosin Island" under the theme "Storied Structure: Architecture Awe Of Old Town Bangkok". The main events -- "Street Art Exhibition Photo Shoot Of People In Pak Klong Talad Quarter", art and lighting installations, an interactive swing, and animation showcases and workshops -- will run between Oct 15-17 at Museum Siam.
