» As a traveller and photographer, Kamthorn Paowattanasuk enjoys visiting temples. While most people like to take photos at famous spots or with well-known sculptures, Kamthorn is interested in temple structures repaired using substitute materials. For example, what used to be a sermon hall made from wood was replaced with cement because wood is too expensive. In another temple, wooden handrails in an ordination hall and the temple gates were replaced with alloy.

» When artist Raweepon Pradit visited Hat Yai in Songkhla — his hometown — an antique white pagoda with scaffolding around it caught his eyes. After hearing that the pagoda was too old to repair, Raweepon captured some aesthetic angles with his camera. The artist felt that the beauty of the pagoda, which was surrounded by metal poles, was extraordinary so he decided to take photos of it before it degenerated further. A photo of the pagoda was later developed into the artwork Structure, which is part of his latest collection titled “Memo Fascination” on display at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and also online.

» When Himmapan Marshmallow -- illustrations of Thai mythical creatures -- went viral, artist Komkrit Tepthian became attracted to the simple yet cute designs. The endearing drawings inspired Komkrit to create five miniatures named Nak Pod (a naga), Nak Punk (a different naga), Mae Hera (a crocodile head with a naga body), Mom (a monkey with four-legs mixed and some lizard features) and Ta Singha (a lion). The appealing creations were produced in his workshop, Motmo Studio, and became popular among shoppers.

» Soon after Miss Philippine Catriona Gray was announced Miss Universe 2018, she received the coveted crown as well as a stylist bouquet that was the talk of the town due to its distinctive design. This exquisite pageant bouquet featured purple Thai orchids and various other flowers in the same shades. In her white crown, flowers were used to replace ribbons. Inspired by the Great Naga, the white base cloth of the bouquet was a unique design adorned with pearls.
