Hidden danger

» Ecological Alert and Recovery Thailand (Earth), a nonprofit organisation, recently revealed the results of a national report titled "Lead In Solvent-Based Paints In Thailand". The study, which tested 55 paint samples from 45 brands sold in the country, revealed that more than 20% of samples had lead levels exceeding 100ppm (the standard set by the Thai Industrial Standards Institute, or TISI). Of these, many also had high lead concentration ranging from 10,000ppm to 64,000ppm.

Battling the big apps

» In 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, an application called Tam Sang Tam Song (On Demand Delivery) was launched by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation in collaboration with the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University. The app was developed to assist motorbike taxi drivers and local restaurants through economic difficulties caused by lockdowns. As a pilot app, it was tested in Ladprao Soi 101 in Bangkok, Betong and Yala and received positive feedback.
