Isak's long-drawn transfer saga a sign of the times

» It is a relief for all football fans that the sorry saga of the Alexander Isak transfer from Newcastle to Liverpool has finally been resolved. Only time will tell who will benefit most although Isak's agent is no doubt sporting the biggest grin after the record £125 million transfer.

» Steve Bruce was not a happy bunny when a cabbage was thrown at him by a protesting spectator at Villa Park recently. The Aston Villa manager was even less happy shortly afterwards when he got the sack for his team's recent cabbage-like performances, highlighted by throwing away a 2-0 lead in a 3-3 draw with bottom-placed Preston.
Regis a gifted pioneer and graceful icon

» It was very sad to learn of the death of former West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City star Cyrille Regis who died earlier this week at the all too young age of 59. Regis was much more than just a talented footballer and became a symbol for the fight against racism in Britain at a time when things were in danger of getting out of hand. He had dignity and grace and he played a significant role in changing people's attitudes with his skills on the pitch and his dignified stance off it.
