» At the start of the season probably no managerial seat in British football looked more secure than that of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park. In his second spell at Celtic he had just won successive titles to go with the other two he earned during his first stint in 2017 and 2018. With Old Firm rivals Rangers in disarray and sacking manager Russell Martin things looked nicely set up for Rodgers to add to the Celtic trophy cabinet.

» The managerial merry-go-round has been in full swing lately and it is getting hard to keep up with which gaffer is where. The latest move the Premier League in has witnessed is Sean Dyche taking over at Nottingham Forest, replacing Ange Postecoglou who lasted just 39 days, the fewest ever for a Premier League boss.
Liverpool look to be in the driving seat

» After being bombarded by transfer news for weeks, it is something of a relief that the 2025-26 Premier League season is finally getting underway this weekend. One game has already been played, with defending champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth at Anfield last night. It would be nice if they could all start the season on the same day.
Naming stadiums can be a bit tricky and sometimes awkward

» When the new Premier League season kicks off, the fixtures will be graced by a brand new stadium courtesy of Everton FC which has finally left the "Old Lady" of Goodison Park after 133 years. The Toffees' new home at Bramley-Moore Dock on the banks of the River Mersey is called the Hill Dickinson Stadium after the international law firm that holds the naming rights.

» In addition to tackling the unprecedented hot weather, something else Wimbledon had to get used to this past week is that for the first time there are no line judges. Breaking a very long tradition they have been replaced by electronic devices, a true sign of the times.

» It is ironic that the first time in the whole season Chelsea fans have been happy with their team’s performance, the owners decide to part ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino. Despite the “mutual consent” statement the owners appeared quite happy to let the Argentine go and did not put in much effort in persuading him to stay.
