The aim of the two-day fair is to promote this unique cultural attraction and to honour Phanthai Norasingh – a heroic royal barge captain who begged Phra Chao Sua, a king from the Ayutthaya kingdom, to execute him instead of forgiving him after the royal barge he was captaining swerved and hit the bank of a canal.
