» Sunlight gleamed on the surface of the Chao Phraya River as we wandered along a promenade and admired colourful walls of street art that attempt to evoke the heyday of Sing Buri, which once served as a crucial junction connecting the Lavo, Ayutthaya, Suphannapoom and Sukhothai kingdoms.

» Just a few days before I arrived in Koh Mak, Trat province, veteran marine ecologist Thon Thamrongnawasawat posted on Facebook about his collaboration with Bang Chak Corporation to rehabilitate a 10 rai field of seagrass around Koh Mak and Koh Kradat to build blue coastal carbon ecosystems. » After spending a couple of late morning hours exploring Photharam on my foldable e-bicycle, I found myself on an islet on the Mae Klong River that runs past the west side of the business district of this old town in Ratchaburi province. » It was dark outside and the crickets chirped monotonously. The rooster's crow before dawn could easily wake up an entire household. I glanced at my watch only to realise it was 4am. Soon an e-taen, a modified farm truck, would pick me up to go watch the Sun rise over a sea of fog from Huai Ton Hai viewpoint in Sukhothai's Ban Na Ton Chan village.

» Kanchanaburi has long been a popular destination for day trippers. However, the scenic Sai Yok National Park and several caves and rafting on the Kwae Noi River seem overlooked by Thai tourists. These places are worth visits besides the infamous Death Railway and the Hollywood-misnamed "Bridge On The River Kwai" that remain popular tourist spots.
