Every day before the crack of dawn, the platform in front of Myanmar's iconic pagoda is crowded with throngs of devotees _ lay and holy, children and elderly. Some sit meditating, still and silent; others chant prayers. Some do walking meditation around the golden edifice. The air is crisp, the ambience filled with peace and joy.
