» 1 Thong Lor's 72 Courtyard has a ton of Mother's Day promotions this weekend, starting with the newly opened Carb and Wine Bar. Serving pizza, pasta and charcuterie boards, the restaurant is offering a special "Free Pizzas For Mamas" promotion, about which more information can be had if you call 02-392-6922. Then there's Japanese comfort food Lucky Fish, offering mothers 30% off on all menu items, as well as a free glass of cold-pressed juice for all you mothers out there. Mexican eatery Touche Hombre has a special 1,000 baht Mother's Day menu as well, consisting of Chips and Salsa Roja Mexicana, Soft Shell Crab Cangrejo, Grilled Chicken del Habanero or Roasted Pork Belly Al Pastor Tacos, and Roasted Kingfish Collar, as well as a complimentary ice-cream sandwich to boot. Last but not least, tapas bar Toro Bangkok has a 1,000 baht menu, from which mothers can select five of their favourite hot and cold tapas to enjoy. October marks the one-year anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol's passing, and in a gesture of dedication and remembrance, ChangChui creative hub in Thon Buri is holding a month-long programme called From Particles To Father's Universe, featuring numerous art exhibitions and talks on His Majesty and his works. Highlights include the Silence Of The Universe art exhibition, consisting of a collaboration of over 70 artists, talk sessions from PorLeawDee - The Creator, live music from Silpakorn University's Faculty of Music and tastings of nine favourite dishes of His Majesty. The programme will run from now until Oct 29, Tuesdays to Sundays (free on weekdays; 40 baht on the weekends), 11am-11pm at ChangChui. For more information visit their Facebook page.

» 1. A treat for coffee lovers, Krispy Kreme is rolling out three limited-edition coffee-flavoured varieties only until the end of August. First, the Salted Caramel Latte Doughnut is a shell doughnut filled with rich espresso kreme, coated with salted caramel and sprinkled with crème brûlée flakes. Second flavour is the Vanilla Latte Doughnut, filled with vanilla latte cream and coated with rich espresso and vanilla cream and sprinkled on top with espresso flavoured icing and vanilla latte toppings. Last but not least, the Mocha Kreme Doughnut is filled with Mocha cream, coated with white chocolate and drizzled with espresso topping. At only 35 baht a piece, get Krispy Kreme's Coffeehouse Doughnuts at any participating branch (except Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports).

» 1. Those who frequent Siam Paragon may have seen the new and enticing smoothie booth on the ground floor. Jamba Juice, the Californian smoothie chain that claims to be "the world leader in made-to-order smoothies and freshly squeezed juices" has made it to Bangkok. The first of its 30 planned stores in Thailand, Jamba Juice offers a similar smoothie menu to the original chains in the US, including special smoothies with local ingredients like mango, watermelon and pineapple. Classic smoothies like Strawberry Dream (strawberry and banana) and Banana Berry (banana, blueberry, apple and strawberry) costs 110 baht, while protein and fibre filled shakes like Green Getaway (spinach,mango, passion fruit, chia seed, yoghurt) costs 130 baht.

» 1. After Magnum Photo legends Jacob Aue Sobol and David Alan Harvey visited Thailand a few weeks ago, another huge name has arrived in the country to exhibit his world-renowned works. From Nov 14 to March 14 next year, a newly opened photo centre, House of Lucie, will be presenting "A Lifetime Of Work" by Steve McCurry. McCurry is known for his stunning portraits and coverage of civil conflicts across Asia, with his most iconic work being the 1984 portrait Afghan Girl, printed as the cover of National Geographic one year later. House of Lucie is located at No.1 Ekamai 8.
