Wall Street was subdued because of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and a shortened session on Friday. European markets were little changed as investors awaited word this week on whether the European Central Bank would extend its stimulus measures.

However, investors went on a buying spree later as they took a deeper look at the Fed minutes and concluded any action would be gradual. Better-than-expected GDP data for Thailand in the third quarter also lent some support to Thai shares.
