» Born in Thailand to an Irish father and Thai mother, Tom Waller is an international film-maker and film producer. In Thailand, he’s best known for his second film, Mindfulness and Murder (2010), which was nominated for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Film at the Subhanahongsa Awards. Tom’s latest feature, The Last Executioner (fb.com/thelastexecutioner), is based on the life of the late Chavoret Jaruboon. Chavoret was Thailand’s last man to use a sub-machine gun on death row inmates at Bang Kwang Central Prison before the capital punishment method was changed to lethal injection. Vithaya Pansringarm of Only God Forgives plays him in the film, which was selected as one of 15 nominations for The Golden Goblet of the Shanghai International Film Festival last week where Vithaya won Best Actor. Tom talks to us about The Last Executioner, which will hit Thai cinemas on Jul 3.

» The 22-year-old Ekathep Michaels, aka Dinsor Michaels, will soon graduate with a bachelor’s degree in communication design from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Architecture. But the young photographer, who is represented by Wilhelmina-One Thailand, has already had his photos featured in the Thai edition of Attitude while more will appear in foreign magazines soon. Moreover, Dinsor has shot over 30 look books for various Thai fashion brands. He tells us how he got a start in the fashion industry and his name out there so early. » Graphic designer Kiddee Charoenpanitkul co-founded Barketek with landscape architect Piyanat Ratanawongsarot through their mutual love for dogs and great design. Barketek, a portmanteau between bark and architect, currently offers stylish products for pets such as bowls and hammock-type beds so your pooch or kitty can eat and sleep in style. With a bachelor’s degree in urban design and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from two American universities, Kiddee is also the creative director of a collaborative called Paper Planes where he works with designers, photographers and programmers on various projects.
