When Bangkok bid for the Olympics

Roger Crutchley, Published on 28/07/2024

» It's been 100 years since the last Paris Olympics which was dramatically portrayed in the stirring 1981 film Chariots of Fire. I can still picture that opening scene with the British athletes running along the beach to the sounds of that Vangelis anthem. It's hard to believe that was made 43 years ago. Life, Published on 21/06/2017

Let's face it, this time last year the thought of Trump becoming the 45th President of the United States probably made you spit out your coffee or, if you're a hipster, choke on your kale juice. But then again, never say never, right?

Backward thinking

News, Postbag, Published on 25/09/2016

» It's "rear-end backwards" time again in Thailand. While the rest of the world enjoyed the Thai tourism video made with khon figures, including the Thai community here in California, only the Thais in Thailand complained. Oh ye of narrow vision and little faith. Wake up and see Thailand for what it really is, and how it is perceived, certainly not a country of only beautiful beaches and temples.

The future's made of augmented reality

Life, Kanin Srimaneekulroj, Published on 27/07/2016

» With more than 30 million downloads in less than a month since its release, calling Pokemon Go a social phenomenon is hardly an overstatement. An augmented-reality mobile game (AR) released earlier this month in some regions, Pokemon Go has made daily headlines around the world ever since its launch.
