» It's all been there done that on the Cannes Lion advertising award circuit for Kantapon Metheekul. The young creative executive has won many awards, been featured in several publications and has illustrated for a handful of high street and luxury fashion brands -- but that's not his true calling. As someone who loved to draw since he was five, it was only natural that Kantapon's veins throbbed to become a full-time artist -- to draw his own creations and not what others briefed him to. After three years of working for advertising agencies, he packed his bags and headed to New York to become an artist.

» "This isn't just a bunch of squiggles fudging it, is it?" my photographer jokingly whispers. His question is legitimate, even if slightly demeaning. You'll be excused for asking that question if you're long-sighted, because to the naked eye, it really does look like a bunch of squiggly lines that add up to create a larger picture.

» Inside the intimate and cubic space of Nova Contemporary, a sense of serenity welcomes all visitors with monochromatic pictures of animals on the walls and clear plastic bunnies in the centre of the floor. The mild, seemingly plain artworks of animals on the walls don't beg to be photographed, but then again, pictures of them wouldn't do justice to the real thing anyway. They need to be seen up close through your own eyes.

» Narcissus, Chanel and lots of gold all make up this multidisciplinary show by Chris Bowden (or Beejoir). Using hand-printed linen, industrial pigmented inks and even real snakes, "#NRCSSM" is the British artist's first major solo exhibition in Thailand after having lived here as an artist and curator for the past 15 years. Much of the inspiration for the show comes from our nation's very own shutterbugs, where vanity in the digital age means easily taking 3,000 selfies -- and seeing nothing wrong with it.

» It's a continuous run on the treadmill for art collectors and design devotees when the art fair season kicks off in January. March is undoubtedly a peak period, with exhibitions going on every weekend. The most prominent one in Asia, Art Basel Hong Kong, something of a high-end art supermarket, wrapped up on Tuesday. The fair saw over 3,000 artists around the world touch down at the gateway to Asia for the third year to beguile the moneyed and style-savvy art connoisseurs.
