MEA Marks 66th Anniversary with Sustainable Energy Theme

» Wilas Chaloeysat, Governor of the MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority), stated, “On the auspicious occasion of the MEA’s 66th anniversary on 1 August 2024, MEA hosted the '66th Year: To be Sustainable Energy Utility' event to promote decarbonisation.” Under the eco-friendly theme, the venue was decorated with waste-free materials, and there was an exhibition zone featuring “good soil and unspoiled water to a happy life with sustainability.” The event also supported fundraising, donating 328,700 baht to the Seub Nakhasathien Foundation and 378,800 baht to the Foundation of the Welfare of the Cripple under the Royal Patronage of HRH the Princess. Participants also contributed by purchasing products from the Mae Fah Luang Foundation.

» Lampposts have posed a lot of questions since last week. If you've been around Thailand, you're bound to spot fancy lampposts that are equipped with sculptures at the top. These sculptures represent something unique about their locality like what a province is known for or simply are mythical creatures. They are nothing new in Thailand but become the new talk of Thai town after people raise questions, rightfully so, about their costs and necessity. Some suspect good old corruption and collusion between local govt officials and the contractors who built them. They are paid for by the taxpayers' money, after all.
