» Sitting gridlocked inside a taxi while inching closer to the BTS, where my fate of being shoved around inside a carriage of full people awaits, I can't help but sneer at the large bright-blue poster displayed so shamelessly on the BTS skywalk. It reads "Krungthep ... chewit dee dee tee long tua", which can roughly be translated as "Bangkok ... A life that's perfect and balanced".

» The Royal City Bangkok Film Club will be screening two movies from Azerbaijan and Taiwan for free (with drinks and snacks) at River City Bangkok. This is a rather new screening venue, established with the aim of becoming a space for alternative cinema. The location, by the river near Si Phraya, is also a change of atmosphere.

» 1 Marks & Spencers is stepping up their fashion game, embarking on a project series in collaboration with today's most exciting designers, fashion icons and brands. The first collaboration in the project is with fashion model, style icon and television presenter Alexa Chung. The collection, called Archive by Alexa, features 31 contemporary womenswear pieces inspired by the M&S company archives. Standout pieces include the colourful Eliza Dress, inspired by a 1950s apron. The collection is now available online and at CentralWorld and CentralPlaza Pinklao.

» Google "Chao Phraya Promenade" and you are met with numerous negative headlines and terms such as "fear", "mixed response" and "shaky". A 14 billion baht development project that will link the Rama VII and Pin Klao bridges together, the promenade will include parks, recreational areas, walking paths and spacious bicycle lanes with full access and views to the river. This is the first in a series of planned river projects that will eventually cover 57km of the banks of the "River of Kings".
