» In "Under The Same Sky", the latest exhibition at Nova Contemporary by photographer Tada Hengsapkul and artist Chai Siris, personal history and that of the world entwine. In no way does the show appear to strive at having these narratives untangled.

» A watermelon is in the centre of the screen, and we watch it being gradually squeezed as two pairs of hands continuously put rubber bands around it. On another screen, a woman is in the middle of nowhere and suddenly takes out a toaster before hurling it away with all her strength like a hammer throw.
The future, in reverse

» On the surface, artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul's video of a night journey through a temple doesn't seem to be in dialogue with photographs of Sakhalin island by Japanese Tomoko Yoneda. Nor does there seem to be any connection between Field Recordings' video work documenting migrant workers on the banks of Shanghai's Huangpu River and MAP Office's incredibly detailed imaginary map of "future Hong Kong".
Ratchaburi's roll of the dice

» Almost five years ago the late writer and National Artist in literature Prabhassorn Sevikul wrote a short story. The text was not published on paper but painted along the bank of Mae Khlong river, and you had to walk the total of 3km to finish the story. The ephemeral aspect of this, along with 74 other artworks installed around Ratchaburi, featured in the first edition of the community-based "Art Normal" event.

» Aside from "Journey Of 999 Elephants" -- an exhibition in which 999 artists joined to paint 999 exact same models of elephants that are now strewn everywhere from CentralWorld, Zen, on the BTS Skywalk over Ratchaprasong intersection and on the second floor leading to the entrance of Central Chidlom to Central Embassy -- the highlight of the capital's art scene this month is "Galleries' Night", which is taking place this Friday and Saturday.

» This month's Art Matters begins with rather worrying news for H Gallery. After a visit to a photography show by Kornkrit Jianpinidnan, which just opened last Saturday at Bangkok Citycity Gallery, one fact hit me hard: Tam, H Gallery's dog in residency, may not be the only contender for the cutest canine in the capital's art scene.

» At Yet-Space, there was fried chicken which looked like KFC but tasted worse. At Speedy Grandma, the hipsters, as usual, seemed perfectly fine with Asahi draught as their sole sustenance. At Bangkok University Gallery there was food but I wasn't there in time to see what it was. In this month's column, which rounds up the best food served in the capital's art scene, The Jam Factory Gallery was a sure winner.

» As soon as the rain stops, the nightmare begins. Despite the vibrant lights of River City on the other side of Chao Phraya River and the boats that pass by in the background, the five dancers in Jitti Chompee's latest work Little Room In Etienne Marcel manage to take the audience to a very dark place of solitude and filthy desire.
At the threshold of art

» On the right hand side is a storm of colours that invite you to ponder its intricacy. On the left is an aerial view of a landscape of forest and blue-gray water. These two massive three-panelled abstract works, by Joe Delaney and Soichiro Shimizu respectively, form the entrance to the recently-opened Bridge Art Space, the latest addition, following hot on the heels of Speedy Grandma and Soy Sauce Factory, to the growing art community in Charoen Krung.

» The exhibition “Under The Radar”, currently on display at Chulalongkorn University’s The Art Center, is a collection of works by six artists.
