A vinyl revival

» Organised by the King Rama IX Music Library and the Princess Sirindhorn Music Library, under the Fine Arts Department of Thailand, the exhibition "Record Discs In Siam" takes visitors back to the times when shellac and vinyl records were still popular. At the exhibition, visitors will see wax cylinders -- the recording medium that preceded vinyl records -- cassette tapes and compact discs. Other items include rare shellac record discs, vinyl discs and vintage record players.

However, many people may not know that other important modern structures such as the old parliament building, Arkanmai at Suan Amporn and the Telephone Organization of Thailand building in Chidlom were also demolished. As time passes, more examples of modern architecture are gradually vanishing without the attention and knowledge of most people.

» When Pratchaya Uthayanin was a third-year student at the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University, his father was diagnosed with cancer. Pratchaya was in and out of the hospital with his father who went through chemotherapy and other treatments for two years until he passed away. That experience inspired him to create a thesis titled "Signification And Representative Of Death".
