» Sightings of dolphins in canals, sea turtles laying eggs on the beach, and a clear sky as a result of reduced pollution may seem like silver linings amid all the devastation brought on by Covid-19. While humans may suffer, it looks as though nature and the environment are getting a much needed break to recover from all the human activities that have disrupted them in the past -- a positive impact from the lockdown, as it appears on the surface to be.

Dominic started Precious Plastic Bangkok about a year ago and has held many workshops on how to "upcycle" used plastics. He tells us why plastic is too precious to be carelessly thrown away.

» "Jurassic Plastic" จูราสสิค พลาสติก นิทรรศการศิลปะชิ้นใหญ่เต็มเนื้อที่อาคาร อาเหนก ป้าสง ช่างชุ่ย ย่านถนนสิรินธร เต็มไปด้วยของเล่นเหลือใช้หลากหลายสีสันกว่า 100,000 ชิ้น ทั้งจากการรับบริจาคจากโรงเรียนต่างๆ ในเครือข่ายในเมืองไทย และบางส่วนมาจากประเทศญี่ปุ่น แสง สี สร้างความตื่นตาตั้งแต่แรกเห็น เสียงที่ดึงเข้าสู่บรรยากาศในยุคไดโนเสาร์ ก่อนเผยให้เห็นถึงความน่ารักที่ซ่อนเร้นอยู่ในของเล่นทุกชิ้นที่ศิลปินจัดวางให้เกิดลวดลายตามเฉดสี ให้ทุกคนได้ตามหาของเล่นที่เคยรัก ในส่วนใดส่วนหนึ่งของผลงาน นิทรรศการครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่สะท้อนปัญหาขยะของเล่นที่มีจำนวนมหาศาล ซึ่งของเล่นพลาสติกเป็นเพียงส่วนหนึ่งในบรรดาขยะพลาสติกที่กำลังยึดครองโลกและเป็นปัญหาอยู่ในตอนนี้ แต่ยังเป็นหนึ่งเสียงสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการสร้างขยะจากลัทธิบริโภคนิยมและผลิตของเล่นมากเกินความจำเป็น Jurassic Plastic Exhibition by Hiroshi Fuji เกิดจากความร่วมมือระหว่าง เจแปนฟาวน์เดชั่นกรุงเทพ และช่างชุ่ย จัดแสดงที่อาคาร อาเหนก ป้าสง ช่างชุ่ย ตั้งแต่วันนี้จนถึง 14 ตุลาคม 2562 ในวันจันทร์-ศุกร์ เวลา 13.00-22.00 น. และวันเสาร์-อาทิตย์ เวลา 11.00-22.00 น.
