» While many artists seek inspiration outside their home, Wannaprapa Tungkasmith, better known as Collagecanto, discovered that home is one of the best places to find her muse. Wannaprapa is famous for her intricate papercutting artwork. Her solo exhibition "I Am Home" was inspired during the Covid-19 lockdown when many people were forced to stay indoors. That period ignited Wannaprapa to create this introspective exhibition.
Solar solutions

» Four years ago, Boonyuen Siritham, president of the Thailand Consumers Council (TCC), paid around 17,000 baht to 18,000 baht monthly in petrol and electricity bills. As an environmentalist, she aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cut her expenses so she decided to install a solar rooftop and switched to an electric car. Since then, she pays only 2,500 baht per month for electricity.

» Organised by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC), the third edition of the international contemporary art festival, "Thailand Biennale, Chiang Rai 2023", returns with the theme of "The Open World" from now until April 30. "The Open World" was inspired by the Buddha image in the posture that is called "open world" at Wat Pa Sak in Chiang Saen District.

» In collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, the National Research Council of Thailand organised the Thailand Research Expo 2023 which presents over 1,000 research projects from now until Friday. This event takes place at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, under the theme "Driving Research Towards A New Economy And Sustainable Development Of Thailand".
Redefining design

» Assoc Prof Supreedee Rittironk has had a special interest in bamboo, so he decided to research the plant during his PhD in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in the US. After returning to Thailand, he became a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Thammasat University, Rangsit Center. In 2010, he launched an elective class called Bamboo Studio for fourth-year students.

» In the difficult lives of labourers, two talented artists, Chaiyan Ninlabon and Maneerat Thamnarak, found inspiration to create works for the exhibition "Early Years Project #6: In A Cogitation", which is on display at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). Chaiyan and Maneerat were two of eight finalists selected from 80 applicants for "The Early Years Project #6".

» The third edition of the Mango Art Festival returns to celebrate diversity, new beginnings and discoveries through art from now until Sunday at River City Bangkok. Under the theme "Rise", the festival suggests growth, expansion and prospects for partnerships as well as endless possibilities. It also aims to shine a light on the next generation of emerging artists and designers by giving them the opportunity to exhibit their recent work.

» Created by Rush Pleansuk, the mythology of the goddess Mekhala being chased by the thunder deity Ramasura is depicted through nang yai, or a grand shadow play, at the art exhibition "Ramasura". Rush is best known as the winner of the 2019 Designer of the Year award from the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce. He is also a co-founder of the design company Sumphat Gallery, and the architecture company Sumphat Space. The artist confessed that although he works on design for a living, his true passion is art.

At "Thailand Inventors' Day 2023", visitors will be impressed by inventions by Thai innovators such as a special oral hygiene set for bed-ridden patients, a smart gun for formalin detection in food, microneedles with customisable features, plant-based minced dried meat and a colourimetric LAMP-XO for quick diagnosis of African swine fever.
