Red Sparrow never quite takes flight

Life, Kanin Srimaneekulroj, Published on 02/03/2018

» Some stories are just told in the wrong medium. We've all come across one at some point; a series that feels like it could've been told in two compact hours, or a film that lays down so much groundwork for interesting developments that it simply can't give every subplot the necessary room to grow. Red Sparrow, the new spy thriller from director Francis Lawrence, falls into the latter category. With its gripping and violent story of espionage and sex, bolstered by an all-star cast of award-winning actors, Red Sparrow's downfall is the fact that there simply isn't enough room in its considerable run-time -- well over two hours -- to do its own world justice.

Monstrously addictive

Life, Kanin Srimaneekulroj, Published on 07/02/2018

» Despite seeing dozens of titles released under the name since its initial debut in 2004, Capcom's Monster Hunter -- the Japanese studio's famed action-RPG franchise -- has never been a mainstream hit. With its admittedly repetitive gameplay loop, nail-biting difficulty and archaic controls, Monster Hunter is one of those games that you either love to death or avoid entirely, with no room in between.

Find your Zen

» Powerful, ultra-thin laptops are beginning to make a mark, offering impressive performance for efficient and portable machines. Asus' ZenBook Flip S (ux370) proves this point, with an Intel i7-7500U processor, 8GB of RAM and a generous 512GB SSD. As a laptop, the ZenBook Flip S is great, with an impressive screen, keyboard and track-pad making the device a pleasure to use. While the device does run a little warm, even with just general use, the overall experience was still quite positive.
