Guru, Suthivas Tanphaibul, Published on 30/09/2022

» Nothing gets you through the day like a cup of coffee, whether to kickstart your morning or keep you awake all day long. Many might see coffee as just another caffeinated drink, regardless of how it is brewed, with little or no thought to its origins.

Turning a new leaf

Guru, Suthivas Tanphaibul, Published on 24/06/2022

» To all Thais, now you can proudly brag that we're the first Asian country to legalise marijuana. The new milestone was marked on June 9, 2022, when growing and trading cannabis were no longer a crime in Thailand. Smoking gets a green light too, but puffing a joint in public is still prohibited. With a newfangled marijuana business popping up around the city, we list dispensaries in Bangkok for those who are curious. We also asked the weedness-owners about their backgrounds and basics for begin-stoners.

Light flickers in US, fades in Thailand

Life, Melalin Mahavongtrakul, Published on 30/11/2020

» For a good part of November, the world was gripped by a tumultuous fanfare that is the US election. And even before the very last votes were counted, relief and joy were already felt in many communities, not only in America but perhaps across the world. For better or for worse, Donald Trump's reign is coming to an end, and the world now looks to President-elect Joe Biden in the hopes that his win will let voices from the marginalised LGBTI community become louder. Biden promised to enact the Equality Act, a civil rights law that will protect LGBTI people from discrimination within his first 100 days in office among other things.

How the 'mighty' fall

News, Postbag, Published on 13/05/2019

» Re: "Bandits with 'high status'", (Editorial, May 11). The story about someone of "high status" bullying a low-ranking police officer is not rare in our society. This is because our culture pays respect to phu yai -- our elders. In doing his duty, Lance Corporal Ekapol Juisongkaeo was reprimanded and demoted by his boss for "failing to use judgement" by demanding a man of high status show his driving licence.

Love, always

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 11/08/2018

» Flowers are always a nice gesture, but ones that can last forever are sure to give you a better run for your money. Why not gift mum with some jewellery pieces that come with the floral sentiment? Flowery assortments from Swarovski come in contemporary designs which feature a timeless black and white colour combo. They've also got a pearl option where they can be removed from the earring to channel the asymmetrical earring trend. If you want real diamonds, Tilda's Mother's Day collection features florals which also hold symbolic meaning through eight flower petals. Eight represents infinity, or infinite love in Western culture, while signifying wealth, or infinite fortune in Chinese culture. Otherwise, seal your love with hearts from Pandora which also comes in rose or golden hues this season. Their iconic logo and heart-shaped charms come in sweet colours that will blend right in with your staple silver set, while there are also letter charms to spell out your appreciation for mum.
