» Haven’t we all used Facebook to complain about something we see as wrong at some stage? There are some Facebook pages created and dedicated to raising awareness on improper behaviour in public places that you may not be aware of. Check them out in case you want to share your frustration, see what not to do so you won’t end up on one of these pages, or at least get a laugh out of them.

» The military’s Reconciliation Centre for Reform will apparently leave participants feeling happy — but still poles apart, for their activities will consist of public services, traditional local activities, and public meetings with administrative officials and community forums. » While Siam Wisdom is helmed by Chumphol Jangprai, the Thai Iron Chef on Iron Chef Thailand, he doesn’t take the cuisine down a strictly traditional path and it’s a very good thing. The new Thai restaurant, which opened on Apr 13, offers three set menus (B1,800++ each) for dinner – Ancient (time-honoured recipes), Classical (Thai favourites) and Innovative (with modern twists) — as well as a la carte dishes for lunch. A Thai house has been cleverly converted into the beautifully decorated restaurant. The empty space underneath the house (where family hens usually live) has been turned into a lounge bar with triangle pillows you can lean against as you recline on the plush couch like a Thai lord or lady. Besides paintings of Ramakien that adorn the area, the centerpiece is the bottom half of a big tree surrounded by orchids. The rest of the tree awaits upstairs where you can dine in a glasshouse while being serenaded by a live alto xylophone performance. Also on this floor are three elaborately decorated dining rooms. Suffice to say that the place looks very impressive. The patrons are Thais who arrive in personal cars while well-to-do families can be found here on weekends.

» It wasn’t until around 15 years ago, and way before the boom of gastronomic tourism, that more than just a few vicinities outside Bangkok were considered worthy dining destination detours.

» Thailand's cool season only lasts two or three months, and only gets really chilly when fronts of cold air come down from China. These cold snaps usually only last for a short period of time, however, so tourists who want to immerse themselves in the cool season weather like to head to the North, or to Khao
