True cost of mining Bitcoin

Life, James Hein, Published on 28/03/2018

» Should you Bitcoin? Short answer in the past yes, now not so much. I've mentioned Bitcoins in previous articles and modern mining, which is how you get them, has driven up the price of graphics processors in recent times. Can you make any money using your spare GPU cycles on your PC? Answering that question is not as simple you might think, despite what a mining application may tell you. It depends on how powerful your GPU is, what the price of Bitcoin is that week and things like how much you pay for your power because you will be using more. The process works by maximising the power of your GPU, using more electricity than for regular use and keeping your PC hotter than usual 24/7. Mining works by solving complex maths equations for the blockchain which over time takes longer and longer and more processing power.

» Action camera giant GoPro has been in a bit of a tight spot. Their aggressively marketed Karma drone proved to be a flop. And with these two aspects combined, the company had to make drastic measures, including price cuts to their latest and most impressive product -- the GoPro Hero6 Black. Fans who bought the device before the 4,000 baht price cut were understandably upset, but to those who are on the fence about purchasing one, here are a few things to consider.

TV soaps and a load of old flannel

B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 13/08/2017

» Life gets a little weird here in the Land of Smiles at times, and that's not a reference to the queues that currently stretch from Don Mueang to Suvarnabhumi airports. I'm talking about the comments made by the deputy governor of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration -- that giant, dusty machine that runs the city despite having its head lopped off last year with a Section 44 order citing corruption and ineffective administration.
