» To the younger generation of Southeast Asia, shadow puppetry may seem like a bygone form of entertainment. Held outdoors at night in temple compounds, rice fields or the royal court, the performance traditionally unfolds behind a stretch of white cloth illuminated by oil lamps. Puppet masters manipulate the intricate and painstakingly handcrafted puppets to local music, narrating and acting stories from the Ramayana or the Mahabharata epics peppered with improvisation in between. A shadow theatre performance, in some cases, can last up to seven hours long.

In his latest solo exhibition "Combination Platter" (situated on the ground floor of Ploenchit's Central Embassy), Leonardo da Vinci's 16th-century masterpiece Salvador Mundi is now a beady-eyed Jesus. And Picasso's US$155 million (4.9 billion baht) Le Rêve -- instead of a tranquil woman napping peacefully on a sofa, she now has giant black button eyes and a dumb smile to match. Honestly, they're even more entertaining to look at than the originals.

» Nakrob Moonmamas is best known for the beautiful chaos of his collage work, a kaleidoscope of Thai symbols and non-Thai ephemera. In his new exhibition though, Nakrob moves from 2D paper to 3D installation work. "Coronets" explores the literal and abstract meaning of the Thai headdress chada, playing with dimensions and symbolism of this ancient Thai object. His work is on show at Thong Lor Art Space until Feb 20.
