Where the lotus blossoms

» At the front end of a long wooden boat, I stood up to appreciate the full view of the natural world around me. There weren't as many lotus blossoms to be seen as in my previous visits years ago but the peaceful marshland was still full of life. A variety of plants and animals were still celebrating the life-giving rain that had stopped just a few minutes ago. It's hard to believe that in 2016 this very place became so dry that you could see the cracked soil surface. I hope that will never happen again.

Hitting the G-spot

» The famous beach resort of Hua Hin is one of my most frequented destinations for mountain biking. With four regularly maintained downhill tracks, Khao Hin Lek Fai which stands just west of the downtown area boasts more DH trails than any other hill of its size in Thailand. On my latest trip there, the local downhillers refused to bring me to our favourite trails. The reason being that there was, again, a brand new one, and they insisted I had to try it. Of course, I readily agreed. Why not?
