» Montien Boonma, one of Thailand's most significant contemporary artists, died almost 17 years ago. The last time we had a proper glimpse of his art was in 2013 with "[Montien Boonma]: Unbuilt/Rare Works", a show by the Jim Thompson Art Centre and the Thai Art Archives in which his personal collection of documents, sketchbooks, notebooks, printed matter, photographs and video footage along with other related materials were put on display.

» Bangkok Art and Culture Centre hasn't seen this many visitors in quite a while. Today people are everywhere in the exhibition space on the 9th floor even though it is a weekday afternoon. They have never been so involved with the artworks on display and careless as to what other visitors might think of them.

» In 1992, Moderndog as students went onstage in The Coke Music Award with the sole intention of messing things around -- it was at the time a relatively sombre affair with a lot of bands opting for jazz. "It was the only chance we had to make loud noise in the Chulalongkorn University Auditorium," said the band's lead singer Thanachai Ujjin in a recent interview with Life.

» Last month, a 3 tonne load of rare books and magazines from Silpakorn University Central Library were "mistakenly" sold to an old bookshop in Bang Bon district. Some of them were antique books dating back to the reign of King Rama VI, others were old sociological and anthropological journals that can no longer be found anywhere.
