Tradition meets modern

» Situated at the top of the strikingly-designed Siam@Siam Design Hotel, Taan (its name taken from the Thai word "to eat") focuses on "hyper-local" ingredients taken from the various provinces of Thailand. "Hyper-local" referring to the fact that the restaurant works with local farmers who help cultivate ingredients, which are transported on the same day as harvest, ensuring the food is fresh.

Steak out

» In the neon-lit entertainment district that is Patpong, a steakhouse is probably the last place you would think of dining in for quality meat. And yet, as my friend and I walked into a small alley off Silom Road, past through rows of booths and stores selling touristy souvenirs, The Steakhouse Co., a contemporary bar and grill steakhouse lies in stark contrast with the go-go bars nestled further within the alley.

» It has been a month since we've cooled down under the blistering heat celebrating Songkran. » Today is the first day of Songkran and we know what you're thinking: "Where should I celebrate the Thai New Year for some fun-soaked festivities?". There are tonnes of places where you can spray water and dab some scented powder on to others, or if staying dry is your thing, there are events dedicated to that, too. Songkran doesn't have to be just attending the countless EDM parties during these busy days (you can check a handful of them in the parties section of listings), these events are can be enjoyed by just about anybody. So grab your water guns and don some waterproof clothes (or why not don some traditional Thai outfits as that's what's all the rage this year), wannee pen wan Songkran!

Meat-tastic

Guru, Pasavat Tanskul, Published on 12/01/2018

» The setting: Meat lovers rejoice, there is a new meat-centric restaurant in town. The Meatchop is one of the latest entries in Sala Daeng Soi 1, which is already home to many eateries in the area. Recognisable by its all-black, retro-inspired front, the restaurant's glass-framed door entrance sits snugly between two wide, cylindrical windows. Similar to a butcher shop, the left side displays the restaurant's deli section with its selection of imported cold cuts to entice diners to have a taste of their specially-selected meats and cheeses from around the world. While there are seats and tables outside, you'd miss the lively atmosphere inside.
