Choc Me Up!

Guru, Mika Apichatsakol, Published on 11/11/2016

» You'll want to visit the Mercedes Benz pop-up chocolate bar at Siam Discovery with at least two other friends, just so you can try the Hot Frozen Chocolate in size "overloaded" (B480). The monstrous signature drink comes in three flavours -- dark chocolate, white chocolate and dulce de leche -- but seeing as we were at a luxury brand-backed chocolate specialty shop, it was dark chocolate for the win!

Feelin' the physical format

» If you're a vinyl diehard in this city, then you probably know of Vinyl Die Hards record store - if not have already busted your bank account there. Located on Srinakarin Soi 44, the shop belongs to 25-year-old Saipin Korpenjawan, who pretty much does everything there, including melting scrap vinyls to save costs on light shades. (True story. Don't forget to look up.) As vinyl enthusiasts ourselves, we were more than thrilled to immerse ourselves in Saipin's world for a good browsing session and chat.

August All Year Round

Guru, Mika Apichatsakol, Published on 21/10/2016

» The setting: A healthy new diner has opened up inside Chidlom's blinding red community mall. Located on Mercury Ville's third floor, August Organic Eatery occupies a corner spot facing Ploenchit Road, which entitles it to a capacious dining space and stunning view of -- Central Chidlom. The entrance is a little cramped, covered in distracting credit card promotion signs during our visit, but past that, the atmosphere made it convincing to stay. White walls are tattooed with hand-painted murals of veggies and also accessorised with bronze-lettered statements. From high tables to plush blue sofas, the choices of seating are as bountiful as the eight month and accommodating enough for a bustling weekday's crowd.

Black on Black on Black

Guru, Mika Apichatsakol, Published on 14/10/2016

» There's no doubt fashion's favourite colour is the darkest one. Just see how much of it is worn by fashion bloggers, writers and even the designers themselves at any fashion event in any season - keeping in mind that these are the industry's innovators. As a witch b*tch myself, I have to argue for the community that wearing black isn't just an easy option to looking edgy, as it may appear. Think about this: no other colour is as bold and non-distracting at the same time. This unique characteristic subsequently lends an all-black outfit the freedom -- no, the power! -- to express itself head-on with forms and textures. In other words, wearing black demands attention to an unmistakable message of style. Whether you're giving me a psychic hellyas right now or you're still not quite onboard the dark train, feast your eyes on some gorgeous black3 ensembles that'll prove that the dark side is the best one.

Delicately Thai

Guru, Mika Apichatsakol, Published on 14/10/2016

» Growing up in Thailand, I was never really fond of our traditional desserts. The combination of coconut and undisguised sugar -- cornerstones of Thai confection -- always hit me like a note too sharp for my bass range of creamy, chocolaty sweets. Why I wanted to give Wanlamun a try, nonetheless, is knowing that it comes from the same patissier behind the short-lived but sensational Let Them Eat Cake, the closure of which we are still crying over.

Pass the popcorn

Guru, Mika Apichatsakol, Published on 07/10/2016

» Do you ever just wonder what filmmakers or film critics watch to unwind? Or what was the movie that did wonders for them? Are they all going to be so esoteric, or do some of them love the same stupid films we do? We decided to find out by calling up a variety of local influencers in the industry -- some godly, others up-and-coming but interesting -- and inviting them to speak candidly about films.
