» The first thing we saw was a crown -- grand, golden and red -- emblazoned on a green curtain that covered the entire stage. Suddenly it was a mystery, and we were more than ready to find out what Bruno Mars had in store for his Bangkok leg of the 24K Magic World Tour, held on Monday and Tuesday. A concert on Labour Day? Yep, that was exactly what we all needed. Dance, sing and scream (and forget about work) -- that was how the night went for the attendees.

» Last Friday, "Britney Spears Live In Bangkok" became the fanciest party in town when diehard fans came dressed to the nines in iconic Britney looks. School uniforms with mini skirts. Bright red jumpsuits. Electric blue stewardess attire. There were some who went rogue with Thai traditional costumes and life-size cardboard cut-outs from Crossroads. Plushy pythons also made a popular prop to emulate that time when Spears draped a python on her body for the I'm A Slave 4 U performance in 2001.

» Since 1997, more than 2,000 female scientists and researchers from 110 countries around the globe have been offered fellowships for “For Women in Science”, a collaborative effort between L’Oréal Group and the Secretariat of the National Commission for Unesco. In Thailand, the programme has been running for 13 consecutive years to support our female researchers. This year, there were six recipients in three categories — life science, material science and chemistry — who received a grant worth 250,000 baht each to further support their respective research projects.
