» The 29-year-old Nawapol “Ter” Thamrongrattanarit is a man of many talents. He wrote the screenplay for Thai cinema hits such as Bangkok Traffi c Love Story and The Billionaire. He’s a columnist for a day, Hamburger and the Thai edition of Harper’s Bazaar. His debut feature 36 won awards at both local and international fi lm festivals. His second feature Mary Is Happy, Mary Is Happy tells the story of a high-school girl named Mary and her friend, and stars Patcha Poonpiriya and Chonnikan Netjui. It includes casual profanities, a shotgun, knife-wielding and cameo appearances by Krissada Sukosol Clapp and Prabda Yoon. If these aren’t enticing enough, you should know that the one-of-a-kind movie is based on a girl’s tweets - 410 of them to be exact. The movie will be shown at House RCA, Lido, Esplanade Ratchada, Major Cineplex Chiang Mai and EGV Khon Kaen on Nov 28. These days we struggle to get through a single lakorn episode because the main characters unrealistically have perfect make-up and hair while sleeping (or even while in jail). Don't get us started on the oversupply of singing contests (which seems to act like a factory churning out performers).
