The prevalence of Gaucher occurs in up to 1 in 100,000 live births in the general population. Gaucher is a rare genetic disorder resulting from an abnormality of inherited autosomal recessive gene that is passed down from the parents to children. It causes physical abnormalities due to the accumulation of substances in Lysosome (Lysosomal storage disorder or LSD). Some patients may be affected by their nervous system and brain, which greatly affects their lives in many ways especially in their quality of life and well-being.
