» Following right after women, it is arguably afternoon tea that is a match made in heaven when paired with fine jewellery. The two just naturally go together -- where the decorative nature of afternoon tea sets make it the perfect canvas to recreate the daintiness of jewellery pieces.

Come into my parlour

» Gone is the midnight-blue vortex of twinkly stars and mystical allure that personifies the Matina Amanita jewellery boutique at Central Embassy. In its place now sits the amped-up and edible world of Sretsis. Sretsis Parlour, which recently celebrated its grand opening last week, is the Sretsis sisters' latest brainchild, which serves fantasy on a plate: the taste of Sretsis is nothing short of Blossom Baby cakes, heart puffs and intricately printed fine bone china -- all to be nibbled in a place where, from floor to ceiling, not a single inch is unadorned or boring to look at.

» Only one word can encapsulate Tattoo Colour and what it's like to be sitting in the same room with them: guan teen. This would roughly translate to its members' smartass demeanour. It is no wonder that this energy, time and time again, makes their music feel like the equivalent of your all-knowing college BFF giving you a pat on the back (or smack in the head) when love goes bitter.

Silence is the enemy

» The course of Linor Abargil's life has been shaped by two extremes -- she was raped at knifepoint at 18 and six weeks later she was crowned Miss World 1998. Her story of survival and how she got her rapist a 16-year sentence in jail has turned Abargil into a household shero in her homeland Israel, as well as a globe-trotting advocate fighting against sexual violence. The 35-year-old has spoken about it extensively, probably over a hundred times all over the world in various centres and interviews -- not that it becomes any easier each time.
