» Tanat Suvanabhat, better known as Naipran, is an artist with autism. During Covid, he wanted to travel abroad but couldn't so he expressed his desire through paintings and drawings. He drew planes, airports and landscapes of cities he wanted to visit, especially London and New York.

» In the difficult lives of labourers, two talented artists, Chaiyan Ninlabon and Maneerat Thamnarak, found inspiration to create works for the exhibition "Early Years Project #6: In A Cogitation", which is on display at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). Chaiyan and Maneerat were two of eight finalists selected from 80 applicants for "The Early Years Project #6".

Under the "Co With Creation" theme, the design week has a threefold mission. First, to encourage creators' creativity and experimentation to create a new normal lifestyle. Second, to support creative businesses and communities to generate income. And, third, to revitalise creative districts of Charoen Krung-Talad Noi, Sam Yan, Ari-Pradipat, Thonglor-Ekamai and Phra Nakhon through online and offline activities. » The road leading to Ban Neon Kum in Bang Krathum district in Phitsanulok is quiet. Along the road are farmlands consisting mostly of banana plantations. For more than a century, locals in Bang Krathum have grown the fruit for producing sun-dried bananas -- known as kluay tak in Thai. Kluay tak is a Geographical Indication (GI) product of Bang Krathum. About 4,000 tonnes of kluay tak are produced yearly.

» When the news broke on Oct 13 last year that the much beloved King Bhumibol had died, the nation was in for the biggest heartbreak of our generation. People reacted with feverish emotion, with some bursting into tears and others beginning to pray. But National Artist Prof Emeritus Preecha Thaothong grabbed his brush and poured his grief onto canvas. He spent that entire night painting and, the next morning, ended up with a portrait of the revered monarch.

Their hearts, apparently, were with HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away on Oct 13 last year. At the Fine Arts Department's Office of Traditional Arts in Nakhon Pathom, two groups of 20 men and women from all walks of life brought out their best during a recent audition where the office recruited volunteers to help official artisans build a royal urn and coffin and sculpt statues for decorating the royal crematorium.
