» In the opening episode of Ten Years Thailand, a group of soldiers arrives at an art gallery to inspect a potentially subversive artwork. What constitutes a kernel of subversion, however, is hard to lay a finger on. So the story shifts: one of the soldiers begins to chat up a pretty maid, and as the Sun is setting the two of them look out from the gallery to the horizon full of shadows. Maybe of hope.

» A step into Bangkok's latest fine jewellery flagship store does not involve upholstered chairs, velvet-lined display cases and plush, crystal lighting fixtures. At Patcharavipa, the earth-toned archaeological plaster floor and walls offer your first feel of the brand's organic characteristics, while the space is sparsely dotted with what looks like slick, rectangular blocks of dark concrete that house the jewellery pieces.

» Even when they're about violence, Dujdao Vadhanapakorn's shows always feel inviting. Perhaps it's because of her therapy background (Dujdao is Thailand's first dance movement psychotherapist) that she likes to create the kind of space -- physical and emotional -- that invites you to touch, move, interact or open up.

» Even though it's located on the edge of Bangkok, we made sure we were there at the opening of Anchalee "Ja" Arayapongpanit's art exhibition at ARDEL Gallery of Modern Art. This is her third solo show and it's named "Thriller and Horror". Her artworks are distinctive through their strong portrayal of women, essentially big-eyed cartoon versions of the artist herself. This time round, Ja put herself inside her favourite movie scenes from thriller and horror genres. The shy artist talked to us about the messages behind her paintings which are on display at ARDEL Gallery of Modern Art (goo.gl/iQDoq8) until June 25. Some of them have already been sold.

» Without artists, there would be no curators, and without curators, there would be no exhibitions. It may be a long stretch, but with this knowledge in hand, the camaraderie within Asia's art scene seems to be growing stronger than ever, and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC)'s latest exhibition Mode of Liaisons just seems to prove that.
