The Renaissance gave us legendary works of art like Da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Michelangelo's David. » 2021 is finally here and we can finally put "The Year That Must Not Be Named" behind us! Though we're not entirely out of the woods yet, the fact remains that a new year means we can turn a new leaf and look forward to the things yet to come this year. » Sarinya Manamuti, Nicholas Hudso-Ellis and Wongsarond Menn Suthikulpanich, who designed the space at Sala Daeng, are the founders of Bangkok Screening Room. The contemporary cinema aims to serve as a platform for local independent filmmakers and films, as well as making non-blockbuster indie films and classics accessible. Having just concluded the Fem Film Festival, which screened movies highlighting struggles and accomplishments of women in honour of International Women's Day, Guru sat down with Sarinya and Hudso-Ellis to talk about Bangkok Screening Room.

» Argentinian-Spanish artist Felipe Pantone has displayed his works in the organised set-up of galleries and on the street with the urban landscape as a backdrop around the world, including Mexico City, New York and Osaka. He has collaborated with brands like London-based label Romance to design a bicycle produced by Specialised and has also repainted a bridge in Guadalmedina, Spain. The artist who describes himself as a "child of the internet era" brings his analogue/digital imagery to Thailand with an art installation at Siam Center.

» Dhanut Tungsuwan is an up-and-coming artist who has had a number of exhibitions showing off his immense talent and work in Britain. A Harrow alum, he studied art and design at Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Art & Design. He's now back in Thailand where he recently opened a new exhibition entitled "Transitions" at Tadu Contemporary Art by Thaiyarnyon. Guru spoke to him about the exhibition, and his ideas and inspiration.

Classy and livin' it up

» The setting: There's a good reason why this place is called Living Room. Walking into the Park Hyatt Bangkok, there's no doubt it's a five-star establishment. After all, it's located right beside Central Embassy. Despite that, its elegance is subtle and subdued and even though you know you're walking through a pretty classy place, it still feels very much like home. Living Room is no different. Being the hotel's lounge area, it's frequented by people who want to have meetings or do work, ladies who want to have a chat over tea, or just anyone who want to have a relaxing meal. You can also sit outside on the terrace to enjoy the view and breeze. Plus, its pantry is open for guests to witness how everything is prepared, which makes it feels as if it's yours. Basically, it's aptly named Living Room because it feels like your own living room. Even if the ceilings are eight metres high and adorned with contemporary art, we couldn't help but feel very much at home as we tried the lunch and afternoon tea.
