Apple's Swift U-turn

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 01/07/2015

» With its Music service becoming available this week, Apple walked into a lot of criticism over the decision to make the first three months free: from independent music labels and (to great publicity) Taylor Swift. As she noted when withholding permission for iTunes to handle her latest album: free means no royalties for performers.

Apple's 'Spring Forward' could be a leap ahead

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 04/03/2015

» Apple sent out invitations for a "Spring Forward" event, which will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on March 9. Back the Mac up, fool

Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 02/04/2014

» I have one sure way to make my students laugh — I ask if they have backed up their computers. There is silence, then a slight giggle, then the class breaks into laughter. Luckily for Redmond, many users do not have the same ideas as me. But for Apple to win, Microsoft doesn’t have to lose.

What I have learned: Even MS can impress

Database, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 22/12/2010

» If teachers never learn anything new, they do a disservice to their students. Likewise, writers should always search for new ideas; inflexibility will not stimulate readers. My recent look at Microsoft Office 2011 has been a nice surprise - I find myself not only liking it, but happy to recommend it to Mac users. For those wondering about changing from other platforms to Apple's OS X, this would make the move relatively painless. The difference in style sometimes confuses those new to Macs (http://www.microsoft.com/mac).
