» It has been a bad week. Two sporting heroes of my schooldays passed away -- motor racing icon Sir Stirling Moss, 90, and former Chelsea and England goalkeeper Peter Bonetti, 78.

» It was very sad to learn of the death of former West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City star Cyrille Regis who died earlier this week at the all too young age of 59. Regis was much more than just a talented footballer and became a symbol for the fight against racism in Britain at a time when things were in danger of getting out of hand. He had dignity and grace and he played a significant role in changing people's attitudes with his skills on the pitch and his dignified stance off it.

» In October 2006, I was fortunate enough to be invited to a lunch in Bangkok to meet promising young German racing driver, Nico Rosberg. Aged just 20, he was a polite young man and with his longish blond hair and film-star looks, he cut a striking figure. Just about everyone in the hotel lobby insisted on having a photograph taken with him, even in those pre-selfie days.
