» Way back when, The Bangkok World assigned me and a photographer to stick close to Bob Hope during his entertaining of the troops and write it up. A car was put at our disposal to speed to Korat and Udon (Bob and his show people flew where they performed). The Vietnam War was raging. In a hotel in the capital, I managed to get on the buffet breakfast line right behind him. A man walked up beside Bob and said he was from a British popular publication and told him he meant to join his party, share his quarters and write about the Bob Hope nobody knows.
