» สำนักงานเชียงใหม่ไนท์ซาฟารี โดยสำนักงานพัฒนาพิงคนคร (องค์การมหาชน) เปิดตัว “น้องหน้าขาว” หมีควายตัวตึงหนึ่งเดียวในเชียงใหม่ไนท์ซาฟารี ที่กำลังเป็นกระแสอยู่ในขณะนี้ จนเป็นที่มาที่ทำให้นักท่องเที่ยวมาตามหาและมาดูความน่ารักกันอย่างล้นหลาม สำหรับ “น้องหน้าขาว” เป็นหมีควาย (Asiatic Black Bear) เพศผู้ อายุประมาณ 19 ปี ซึ่งได้รับมาจากสถานีเพาะเลี้ยงสัตว์ป่าเขาประทับช้าง จ.ราชบุรี เมื่อปี พ.ศ.2548 ปัจจุบันเชียงใหม่ไนท์ซาฟารีมีหมีควายทั้งหมด จำนวน 17 ตัว หมีควายเป็นหมีที่มีขนาดใหญ่ มีความยาวลำตัวประมาณ 120 - 150 เซนติเมตร หางยาว 6.5 - 10 เซนติเมตร น้ำหนักประมาณ 100 - 160 กิโลกรัม มีขนที่เรียบตรงยาวสีดํา มีหูยาว หน้าอกมีแถบสีขาวอมเหลืองหม่น เป็นรูปตัว V แผ่ไปเกือบถึงรักแร้ ปลายจมูกค่อนข้างดำ เล็บเท้าโค้งยาวแหลม และมักจะเดินด้วยส้นเท้า มีปากยาว หางสั้น ปลายเท้ามีสีขาวหรือเหลือง ประสาทตาและหู ไม่ค่อยไว แต่ประสาทรับกลิ่นดีมากเนื่องจากมีโพรงจมูกที่ยาว หมีควายเป็นสัตว์กินไม่เลือก เช่น ลูกไม้ ใบไม้อ่อน สัตว์เล็ก ๆ และแมลง แต่ที่ชอบมากคือ น้ำผึ้งและตัวอ่อนของผึ้ง ชอบอาศัยในป่าดิบที่มีอาหารสมบูรณ์ ชอบนอนกลางวันนอนตามโพรงไม้ หรือถ้ำ ขึ้นต้นไม้เก่ง อีกทั้งว่ายน้ำเก่งด้วย มีนิสัยดุ และสามารถเดินสองขาได้ แต่บางตัวอาจจะยืนได้ไม่นานทั้งนี้นักท่องเที่ยวสามารถเข้าชมความน่ารักของ “น้องหน้าขาว” หมีควายตัวตึง หนึ่งเดียวในเชียงใหม่ไนท์ซาฟารี ได้ในกิจกรรมนั่งรถชมสัตว์ โซนเพรดเดเตอร์พราวน์ ในเวลา 14.30 – 16.00 น. และ 17.30 – 21.00 น. ทุกๆวันPhoto By Panumet TanraksaPublished caption : Nineteen-year-old ‘Nong Na Khao’ stands on his hind legs as he greets visitors at the Chiang Mai Night Safari.
