» Quite frankly, it's a surprise no one thought of opening this before. The stereotypical Thai street mutt we so often see snarling its teeth as it wanders the streets, used as a mascot for a hot dog? How could there have ever been such a thing as a hot dog in Bangkok had it not always been referred to as a soi dog?

» We spend enough time at The Commons as it is so we thought it would be worthwhile dividing our time there up a bit. Eating waffles and drinking wine after all does get a bit boring. So we did something pretty risqué. Instead of heading to Beer Cap, we decided to climb all the way to the (almost) top of The Commons. #pushingtheboatoutguys. Low and behold, we found Absolute You, another franchise of the Absolute Yoga empire that has been bending Bangkokians into all sorts of questionable positions since 2002.

» You're stepping into the cozy abode of a Parisian hipster when you enter Marcel. The black and white chequered floor, the French blue walls, the light wooden tables and the sound of Prince all align together nicely, inviting you to stay. Books and newspapers line the bottom of the staircase, as do Polaroid photos of the restaurant's regular attendees, Marcel's extended family. This family has grown bigger in the last year since its opening.

» If Cath Kidston opened a cafe and it had a Bangkok branch, this would probably be it. Flavors Cafe, a little darling of an eatery, opened up seven months ago on Thong Lor 20 right opposite the Cheesecake House & Restaurant. The cool grey walls, the Grecian arched windows, the flowered décor and the cute little garden out back make you feel as if you're sitting in a frightfully English country cottage. And the food's going for the uber home-cooked feel too.

» We know what you're thinking. Crêpes & Co (C&C) isn't exactly new to Bangkok's restaurant scene. Hey, it has actually been in the game for twenty years. And this is a cause for huge celebration. Happy 20th Birthday C&C!

» Why have a kitchen when you have Rocket Coffeebar? We could spend an entire day walking in and out of the S49 branch, or any of the branches in fact. Early breakfast? Brunch? Lunch? Daytime cocktails? Coffee? Smoothies? Dinner? Wine? Anything and everything you could ask for using as much locally sourced and quality ingredients as possible. And it comes wrapped up in this meet and eat culture that just overall adds more colour to life. We're getting a bit too sentimental now.
