» The accessory du jour was the fluffy pink boa. The colour scheme was hot pink -- pink pants, pink boots, pink cowboy hats, pink eyeshadow, pink hijabs. Or if not pink, then anything in the tooth-aching shades of the rainbow. It was a lively, joyous sight on Saturday night, a show of hot-hue aesthetics in a defiant contrast to the brutalist concrete skeleton of Rajamangala Stadium. How I wish concrete-mad Bangkok could look like this every day!

» Thailand, according to Coldplay, is amazing. Coldplay, according to the 60,000 fans packing Rajamangala Stadium, is also pretty amazing -- no, maybe not "the best band in the world" as some gush on Twitter, but a top-quality package of dazzle, flares and fireworks, fan service, visual evocation and robust pop-rock-ballad sounds. If last Friday's gig were a movie, it was a blockbuster. It keyed you in excited and sent you out feeling entertained and satisfied.

» A small Indonesian film can't claim the spotlight at the star-studded Toronto International Film Festival, but maybe it's something audiences in our region should look forward to. A Copy Of My Mind, the new film by director Joko Anwar, is probably the highest-profile movie from Indonesia this year after its premiere at the prestigious Venice International Film Festival earlier this month and now a run at Toronto, the biggest film event in North America that runs until Sunday.
