» It was not my intention to end my travel series in the Central Region with another site of a gigantic Buddha sculpture. For my previous story, I visited Ang Thong's Wiset Chaichan district and went to Wat Muang to pay respect to the 95m-tall Luang Pho Yai, the largest seated Buddha sculpture in the country.

» When he was young, Therdsak Yenjura always walked a hiking trail from the foothills of Doi Suthep to visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. The route, which took him a couple of hours, passed Wat Pha Lat, a forest monastery located about halfway to the destination. He sometimes made a stop to pay respect to old Buddha images housed in a ruined concrete structure of the temple.

» The beach of Laem Pho in Surat Thani's Chaiya district is long and peaceful. The day we visited, there were only a handful of tourists. Also visiting were teams of archaeologists. But they weren't there to take in the sea breeze. They were investigating an ancient maritime cross-cultural trade route, which dates as far back as the 7th century.
