» 1. Good news for those who have yet to visit King Bhumibhol's crematorium at Sanam Luang. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has granted an extension of visitation until Dec 31, with hopes that those who live in the provinces will have an opportunity to witness the finest Thai craftsmanship on display. Besides the royal crematorium, there is also a comprehensive exhibition, which chronicles the life of King Rama IX, with topics ranging from his childhood to achievements in science, Buddhism and international relations. In smaller open-air pavilions, the art of creating the crematorium is displayed, with videos displaying the artists at work.

» 1. Art lovers shouldn't miss out on The Commons Art Weekend event today and tomorrow at Thong Lor 17. From 12-8pm, more than 10 local artists, including O Terawat, Alex Face, Tuna Dunn, Nakrob Moonmanas and Aeicha, will be gathered together for fans to have a sneak peak at how they bring their pieces to life. There will be interesting workshops, along with the highlight of the event -- "Unblanking The Canvas" whereby all the artists will work on one single canvas to create a unique mixed-media masterpiece. » 1. Freelance photographer and visual storyteller Adam Birkan is back with his third solo photography show in Bangkok. HopeLand, hosted at JAM Cafe Bangkok, will feature Birkan's distant but poetic photos of everyday situations from broken down cars to random soi dogs taken from his apartment window within a period of 18 months. His minimalistic and colourful style gives the everyday a new and interesting perspective. The opening party will be next Saturday from 7pm till midnight. A limited edition HopeLand zine will be for sale for that night only.

» Nathan Bartling, aka "My Mate Nate", is a hero to some and a low-life to many. The Mormon missionary-turned-local-YouTube star has been plastered all over the news this week once again -- finding himself on the end of public outrage after his latest stunt of trying to flatten coins on Bangkok's railroad tracks. The whole event may seem like an overreaction, but this hasn't been the first time that the 24-year-old American has angered locals and expats due to his juvenile stunts.

» 1. Every year, Swedish home-furnishing giant Ikea launches a "Good Cause" campaign in order to help those less fortunate. From now until Dec 24, they've launched their Let's Play Campaign -- donating €1 for every soft toy, children's toy, book and selected play furniture sold to some of the world's poorest communities to support development and learning, equal participation and programmes that encourage children to learn through play. Participating in this campaign is Ikea's latest soft toy collection, SAGOSKATT, featuring 10 funny and whimsical plush dolls designed by 10 children who entered Ikea's global soft toy drawing competition. One of the dolls, The Red Monster, was designed by six-year-old Thai Chutirada Sujareerat.
