» 1 Bangkok has been bombarded with an amazing line-up of concerts this year, and for any rockers out there, American industrial metal band Nine Inch Nails (NIN) will be bringing their explosive set to Bangkok on Aug 14 at Lat Phrao's Moonstar Studio. Known for their dark, intense and ferocious music like The Hand That Feeds, Only and Survivalism, the band has won two Grammy's for Best Metal Performance and have sold over 30 million records worldwide. Their live concerts are hailed as a "musical, visual, emotional sensory onslaught" -- and with sold out stadiums in Paris, London, Amsterdam and Las Vegas, fans in Bangkok shouldn't hesitate to buy tickets. Time and again, Thailand has produced some incomprehensibly awful news headlines, and time and again, it seems like nothing is getting done. With women now getting their voices and stories heard in the powerful #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, it seems like we should also start focusing on those who are still voiceless: children.

» 1. Bangkok CityCity Gallery has a new exhibition launching tomorrow and on display until Jan 21. Museum Of Kirati, a solo exhibition by Thai artist Chulayarnnon Siriphol, reinterprets the classic Thai novel Behind The Painting (1937) by Sri Burapha (the pen name of Kulap Saipradit). The multidisciplinary show which consists of moving images, watercolour paintings and sculptures acts as a museum of remembrance to Mom Ratchawong Kirati, the protagonist in the novel. Artist Chulayarnnon portrays himself as both Kirati and her lover Nopphon, and reinterprets their tragic love story. For more information go to facebook.com/bangkokcitycity.

» 1. Those who frequent Siam Paragon may have seen the new and enticing smoothie booth on the ground floor. Jamba Juice, the Californian smoothie chain that claims to be "the world leader in made-to-order smoothies and freshly squeezed juices" has made it to Bangkok. The first of its 30 planned stores in Thailand, Jamba Juice offers a similar smoothie menu to the original chains in the US, including special smoothies with local ingredients like mango, watermelon and pineapple. Classic smoothies like Strawberry Dream (strawberry and banana) and Banana Berry (banana, blueberry, apple and strawberry) costs 110 baht, while protein and fibre filled shakes like Green Getaway (spinach,mango, passion fruit, chia seed, yoghurt) costs 130 baht.

» 1. As video streaming services go all out in their marketing campaigns to spread the word, one service has seemed to completely gone off the radar. Amazon Prime Video has launched in Thailand (since December actually), with subscriptions starting at US$2.99 (105 baht) for the first six months and US$5.99 (210 baht) thereafter. Although not offering as many movies and series in the US, the big draw to subscribing would be its original series The Grand Tour, hosted by ex-Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. Amazon Prime Video is available on both iOS and Android platforms.
