» On the breezy top of the limestone cliff on the east side of Doi Pha Phueng, 1,600m above sea level, I zipped up my jacket and let the sights and sounds of the natural surroundings soak in. Before me was a sea of forest-clad mountains, bathed in the warm rays of the morning Sun. The air was filled with blissful silence, with faint songs from invisible birds occasionally seeping in from the canopy below.

» Kui Buri National Park is made up of forest-covered mountainous terrain that runs along the border between the western part of Prachuap Khiri Khan and southern Myanmar. The park is widely known for its large herds of wild elephants and guars that can often be spotted not far from its headquarters. But there's another attraction this piece of forest has long been famous for, among a smaller group of people.

Cycling around Sapa

» Visiting Sapa -- the gateway to Fansipan, Vietnam and Indochina's tallest peak -- used to be on my bucket list. But over the past years since I gave up trekking and engaged more in bike riding, the small mountain town in northeastern Vietnam was edged out of the list by numerous other destinations. Recently, however, Sapa was once again blinked on my radar.
