» Tomorrow happens to be Plain English Day which has in recent years morphed into International Plain Language Day designed to promote the proper use of language. In other words the aim is to cut out all the gibberish, mumbo jumbo, codswallop, balderdash, tripe, tommyrot, twaddle, tosh and bosh you may have become accustomed to… heaven forbid, some of it even in PostScript.

Prof Thitinan Pongsudhirak’s biting comments on the judiciary’s influence on the lifeline of an elected prime minister are most justified based on past events. For the coming challenge facing our Constitutional Court, it is different from the past. The court’s 5-4 vote not suspending PM Srettha’s lifeline before he has the chance of defence is laudable.

» Being woken up by a thunderstorm in Bangkok on Tuesday morning was a most welcome experience. I had been visibly wilting in the heat for a couple of months, but finally dear old Jupiter Pluvius came to the rescue in splendid style.
