» In 1955, Ng Siak Hai began selling Bak Kut Teh as a street cart at the foot of Government Hill (present-day Clarke Quay) along River Valley under the name "Foot of Government Hill Bak Kut Teh". In 1977, Mr Ng renamed the restaurant to "NG AH SIO Pork Ribs Soup Eating House." In 2010, Jumbo Group acquired Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh. Currently, Ng Ah Sio has two branches in Singapore and one branch in China.
