» Statistics from the Department of Mental Health show that out of 600,000 people with intellectual disabilities in Thailand, only 40,171 of them, or 6.25%, seek medical care from public hospitals. Children form a large part of this group and this poses a national healthcare concern -- the big question being, how does Thailand increase the rate of medical treatment and consultation for the young with mental disabilities?

» Nothing beats the aroma of holy basil and its nutritional benefits. But while rich in antioxidants and antibacterial properties, a recent study from the Thai Pesticide Alert Network (Thai-PAN) revealed that holy basil sold at markets in Bangkok is also rich in pesticides — with 62.5% more than the Maximum Residue Limits (MRL). Moreover, holy basil was not the only vegetable found to contain all sorts of pesticides in startling amounts.

» Last month, Juan Francisco Guillermo, a Chilean cyclist on a 250,000km, around-the-world journey, was killed after being hit by a pickup truck in Nakhon Ratchasima province. One week after the tragedy, members of the Thai Cyclists Network got together in front of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre for a commemorative ceremony. The event saw participants playing dead on the ground to raise public awareness of road safety and the risks faced by cyclists.
