» When House of Fritz Hansen in Soi Somkid first came to life in 2017, the white house from the 1950s it inhabited was polished into a showroom to display how luxury Danish furniture pieces could fit into a Thai home. Sleek and clean minimalism usually comes to mind at the mention of this Scandinavian name -- but the global rebrand that has been set into motion since last year is injecting quite a popping touch of colours, fun and modernity to its overall aesthetics.

» The great white tent -- home of Elle Fashion Week -- returns for its 20th year. Starting today, CentralWorld will resume its role as one of Bangkok's major stomping grounds as 14 shows from 18 designers run through Sept 2. This year sees old legends, established brands, as well as up-and-coming names.

» 1. Missed last year’s "The Doraemon Exhibition Tokyo 2017"? No need for tears, as basics giant Uniqlo is bringing one of the designs that was showcased during the exhibition into their stores. Twenty-eight leading Japanese artists were invited to create artworks featuring Doraemon, and Uniqlo is bringing the work of one of the most popular and recognised artists to your closet. Everybody’s favourite robot cat gets floral treatment like you’ve never seen before by everybody’s favourite flowery artist Takashi Murakami. A total of 15 tees will be featuring Doraemon with a splash of Murakami flowers in all colours of the rainbow. There will be a plush toy in the same Murakami style too, but for the traditionalists, check out the line of tees using graphics from the original comics. » 1. The New York gourmet food and beverage destination Dean & Deluca is back again with new dishes inspired by the Land of the Rising Sun to celebrate Japanese Golden Week. A taste of Japan is combined with Dean & Deluca's signature flair, while drinks are inspired by sakura flowers. Five dishes that will fill you up and set you back no more than 455 baht each include Cold Somen Noodle Salad with Tiger Prawn, Gyukatsu Burger, Mentaiko Smoked Salmon Tagliolini, Butadon with Onsen Egg and Chicken Tsukune Donburi. Wash it down with pink-hued matcha drinks such as an Iced Sakura Cream Cheese Matcha Latte or Sakura Cream Cheese Matcha Milkshake. Available at Dean & Deluca stores, except at Suvarnabhumi Airport until the end of May.

» 1. There's fun for the whole family this Songkran at Megabangna's Mega Splash ... Mega Lanna Happiness. The mall will turn into the ancient Kingdom of Lanna and will be extravagantly decorated with flags and lanterns. Activities at the Sook Jai Zone will feature Lanna-style performances such as Jeng dance, a northern elegant but exhilarating dance that has roots in martial arts. At the Sard Sanook Zone, splash away all the heat at the mobile water park, which will be equipped with a giant water slide and water tunnel. For some retro fun, there will also be a traditional temple fair, with all its old-fashioned ice pops, sugar candy sculptures, shooting galleries and dunk tank girls. Celebrate the festivities at Megabangna from 10am-7pm until tomorrow.

» A step into Bangkok's latest fine jewellery flagship store does not involve upholstered chairs, velvet-lined display cases and plush, crystal lighting fixtures. At Patcharavipa, the earth-toned archaeological plaster floor and walls offer your first feel of the brand's organic characteristics, while the space is sparsely dotted with what looks like slick, rectangular blocks of dark concrete that house the jewellery pieces.

Four prominent groups which hail from Budapest are considered among the top 10 projection artists in the world, and Limelight, which has created the "Beautiful Bangkok" 3D mapping currently showing on the Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, is also one of those pioneers.
